The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection issued a press release Monday announcing that the required registration by Customs-Trade
Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) members to the agency's mandatory C-TPAT Security Link Portal has been delayed for all parties until October 1, 2006.
"Due to some initial programming issues
when the Portal was first implemented, some members had difficulty accessing the portal. CBP has worked diligently to resolve these access and programming issues when brought to the attention of the C-TPAT Program
Office," Customs stated in the release. "As a result, the deadline for mandatory submission of supply chain security profile data has now been extended for all enrollment sectors to October 1, 2006. No
further extensions will be granted beyond the new October 1, 2006 deadline, and members who fail to provide their security profiles by this deadline may lose all program benefits."
Customs has stated
that its C-TPAT Internet Application and Communications Portal will bring greater consistency and detail to the security information provided to Customs as part of the C-TPAT program.
According to the C-TPAT Security Link Internet Portal "Questions
and Answers" list posted to Customs' web site, all C-TPAT participants must access and update all C-TPAT Security Link Portal Account information, including their current C-TPAT Supply Chain Security Profile, by October 1. In previous versions of the Q&A, Customs listed separate implementation dates for C-TPAT members based on their business types.
